Position Summary

The Director of Finance will serve as the key financial administrator for Casita Maria. S/he will implement the infrastructure and systems in accordance with the Fiscal Policies and Procedures Manual. S/he will play a key role in the organization's long-term financial security. The Finance Manager will take the lead in grants management and will collaborate with the Leadership Team to analyze department financials and develop budgets, as well as provide reports to departments on a weekly, monthly or as needed basis as well as submit reports as required to funding agencies and keep financials organized for auditing purposes.

The Director of Finance will have overall daily financial management responsibilities including:
  • Issue checks for bills and employee reimbursements in an accurate and timely manner; ensure that all expenditures are appropriately categorized.
  • Reviews all check requests to ensure expenses are covered by the budget line items.
  • Works closely with the Operations Manager to review and determine expense allocations.
  • Works closely with Development team to review and determine income allocations.
  • Works closely with Program Director to review program needs and provide variance reports for all education programs.
  • Ensures payroll worksheet is completed and imported into Fund EZ, after each payroll cycle.
  • Reconciles bank accounts and credit card; keep clear records of all account activity and alerts Operations Manager of past-due accounts in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with Operations Manager to ensure petty cash is replenished, reconciled, and all receipts are obtained.
  • Prepare materials for the organizational monthly and annual financial reporting, as well as metrics for Casita’s Board of Directors.
  • Performs monthly vouchering for all DYCD funded programs including following up on payments, tracking contracts and ensuring all documents have been appropriately processed to ensure payment, budget modifications as needed, tagging vouchers in preparation for DYCD audit(s),
  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration, existing programs, and any new initiatives or programs.
  • Proactively maintains a highly organized filing system; files invoices, payroll paperwork, reimbursements, insurance information and other financial records.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Leads in agency audits.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of systems and procedures as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree and/or CPA preferred; three to five years’ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Fund E-Z a must.
  • Experience working with Department of Youth and Community Development is required.
  • Strong computer skills: knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets and Internet research.
  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development.
  • Nonprofit experience required.
