Para Roberto, 2016 - ongoing

Percent for Art Commission, Roberto Clemente Plaza, bronze and bronze patina
Scheduled for completion: Fall 2017.
Para Roberto is a dedication to legendary baseball player and humanitarian Roberto Clemente’s “would have been” future. A 5’ tall chair made from stickball and baseball bats and balls sitting underneath a 12’ tall canopy of sugarcane. The chair represents Roberto in his retirement, built upon his history, perseverance, and dedication to working with kids to help realize their dreams as future baseball players. It is an “Abuelo” chair; a chair grandfathers would sit in, reminiscing and telling stories filled with history and wisdom. melissacalderon.com

Music With a Message

A summer tour group that aims to change communities one song at a time. Twenty-five performers ages 6-21 are professionally trained to write, produce and perform original songs with positive, relevant messages for the communities they visit. This unique performance camp employs a truck that transforms into a mobile stage and carries all of the band’s instruments and audio equipment. The goal of the tour is to raise awareness about issues in our community and offer solutions, empowering members of the community to work together to bring about change, in addition to bridging generation gaps through good entertainment. musicwam.org
